  • ONLINE CLASSES!!!! For quite some time I have been interested in offering online instruction. We are all limited by our geography when it comes to getting or giving instruction, and online courses solve that problem. Luckily for me, a good friend and excellent trainer, Denise Fenzi, has opened her own online academy and asked me to teach. She gets to do all the hard admin work and I get to focus on the fun part: teaching! Denise's school is www.fenzidogsportsacademy.com and it is an amazing comprehensive resource for many different dog sports and activities. If you want to learn about positive and effective training, this is the place to start! Go take a look at the different classes offered. Sign up for the newsletter to get a monthly announcement of classes as they open for enrollment. I will be offering puppy classes, tricks classes, and in 2014, rally classes. You can also sign up for classes ranging from nosework to ringsports as well. Hope to see you there!

Welcome to the K9 In Focus website!

This site is devoted to providing information and ideas for training your dog using the FOCUS program. FOCUS stands for Fun, Obedience & Consistency lead to Unbelievable Success. Our training system is based on the belief that dogs are intelligent and sensitive creatures. Our methods are based on respect for dogs, an understanding of their nature, and scientific learning theories. We feel that training should be both fun and effective.

The FOCUS program is designed to help you build a strong and solid working relationship with your dog. FOCUS is absolutely necessary for dogs competing in performance events such as obedience and agility. However, FOCUS can enhance the relationship between any dog and owner, whether or not you compete.

FOCUS is the basis for all training. It gives you a strong foundation to build on. A focused dog is responsive, eager to train, and willing to do whatever you want. Training a focused dog is 1000 times easier than training an unfocused one. The good news is that it’s never too late to build focus. If you missed your foundation training early in your dog’s life, you can go back now and rebuild.

We hope you will take some time to look around our site. Check out our Books & Video page and our Workshops page for our latest schedule. Please feel free to contact us if we can provide you with any further information about dogs, clicker training, or agility. Have fun with your training & stay focused!!!!
